After teasing Redmi 3 for weeks, Xiaomi has officially revealed and launched it on the home turf China at a price of CNY 699 which is approximately Rs. 7,000 INR. The device will be available from 13th January 2016 in China via Mi.com and Tmall in Grey, Silver and Gold color variants. While no details have been announced regarding its availability for the other regions including India.
Company’s budget Smartphones like Redmi 1S and Redmi 2 is quite popular in India so we expect Xiaomi to bring the Redmi 3 to India anytime soon, most probably by 2nd Quarter of 2016. The design of the Smartphone looks premium thanks to a metal body frame alongside textured rear panel and it is 0.9mm slimmer than its predecessor Redmi 2.
The new kid sports a 5-inch HD display with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and fuelled by a 1.2GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, equipped with 2GB of RAM. It comes with an internal storage of 16GB backed up memory expansion slot up to 128GB.
The Hybrid SIM slot powered device bears 13MP rear camera supporting LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and according to the company the camera is capable to focus in just 0.1 second. For the Selfie lovers and video calling freaks there is a 5MP front-facing snapper on board.
For connectivity, it supports 4G LTE along with other standard features. It runs on Android Lollipop wrapped under the MI UI 7. The USP of Smartphone is massive 4100mah battery with support to fast charging as well. It measures 139.3×69.6×8.5mm and weighs 144 grams. If priced at 7000-8000, then Redmi 3 will be a sure shot hit in India considering the mouthwatering specs it has to offer.
