Samsung has finally taken the wraps off its much awaited and latest sensation in the Note series Galaxy Note 7 at company’s unpacked event held in New York and London. Now, Indian fans must be wondering if it’s coming to India or not, so the good news is that Note 7 is heading towards India with launch event scheduled on 11th August. The flagship Phablet will be available in four colors- Black onyx, Gold platinum, blue coral and Silver platinum.
Price and Availability:
As for now, no pricing details have been provided by the company; however it is available for pre-order in some countries from today onwards. For India, Note 7 is listed on Samsung India’s website with no pre-order details. According to reports, it would be priced around Rs. 62,000.
Design and Display:
The Galaxy Note 7 Sports dual Edge display with metal frame and glass back making it just novel to the eyes. It also has a famed S pen fitted at the bottom much like its predecessor. Coming to the display, it flaunts a 5.7 inch Quad HD super AMOLED dual curved display bearing 2560*1440 pixels of screen resolution, 518ppi of pixel density and coated with layer of Corning Gorilla glass 5 both at front and back.
RAM and Memory:
Powering is handled by an Octa Core Exynos 8830 processor for the specific countries while for the Indian market; the Note 7 would get Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clubbed with 4GB RAM. Samsung has skipped the 32GB variant and rather comes up with 64GB which is further expandable up to 256GB thanks to the Hybrid Sim Slot. Buyers will also be rewarded with 15GB of free storage space of Samsung cloud.
Software:
The Operating system on board is latest Marshmallow 6.0.1 draped under Samsung’s touch Viz UI on top. It is likely to get an update of Android Nougat 7.0 as well.
Camera:
The camera department retains the same 12 Megapixel rear snapper that supports dual pixel technology for better low light images. It comes with dual LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, optical image stabilization, ISO, white balance. The primary rear camera is capable of recording 4K and slow mo video. A 5 megapixel front facing camera with f/1.7 aperture is on board for Video calls and Selfies.
Connectivity:
As for the connectivity, Samsung Note 7 offers 4G LTE cat.12, dual band Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS with GLONASS/AGS, bluetooth 4.2 LE and NFC. It is also the first Samsung device to have USB Type C features.
Dimensions and Battery:
The Phablet is just 7.9mm thin which is great for 5.7 inch device while it weighs 169 grams which is again decent by segment standards. The Note 7 is packed with a 3500mah battery with support to fast charging on both wireless and wired charging modes.
Noteworthy features:
S Pen:
The Phablet brings new S Pen which has a smaller 0.7mm tip and can sense 4000 levels of pressure. With S pen users can portray and share GIF animations with smart select feature, it also get magnify and translate enabling user to zoom in the screen. Another good thing is that S Pen can be operated under water and can be used when screen is wet thanks to IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
IRIS scanner:
Samsung has also loaded new note with IRIS scanner which can be used to secure Samsung Pay and other personal files. One can unlock the phone via Iris scanner by holding the phone 25-35 cm away from the eyes and position it within the two circles on the screen. Further, it is equipped with Knox Security suite with Biometric authentication and secure folder feature
Sensors:
The Smartphone bears fingerprint sensor which is located at the home button and also has heart rate monitor integrated on the back alongside rear camera.
