Samsung Silently announces a rugged Smartphone christened as Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 which is expected to be showcased at the upcoming CeBIT trade show scheduled between 16 March and 20 March in Germany. But for Indian market it will be available from April 2015 around US$ 289 approx (18,140 INR).
The special feature in Xcover 3 is that it is a water resistant, dust proof, shock proof Smartphone with IP67 certification and can survive after being dipped in up to for 30 minutes. It also meets US MIL-STD 810G criterion for humidity, rain, surviving adverse temperature and altitude conditions.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 has a 4.5 inch WVGA with 480×800 pixel display which is comparatively very low as per the price tag. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which is expandable.
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat which is upgradeable to Android 5.0 Lollipop later. It sports a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and underwater shooting mode and a 2MP front snapper for Selfies. The handset is backed up by 2200mah Battery.
Connectivity options GPS, LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, Micro-USB and LTE and also has Knox 2.2 offering for better security. It is 9.95mm thick with 154 grams weight.
In terms of Design like other Galaxy Smartphones it sports three physical buttons-Home, multi-tasking and back button, it also comes with a special “Xcover key” that turns on the flashlight by double tap on it.
