Sony has unveiled two new smartphones with a brand new design language- Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 compact. The smartphones have 18:9 HDR displays with an attractive curved design and new dynamic vibration system. These phones don’t have bezels like previous Xperia phones and Xperia XZ2 has a curvy liquid glass. Sony also ditched headphones jack this time. Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 compact specifications
Sony Xperia XZ2 has a 5.7 inch 18:9 Full HD+ HDR display, while the XZ2 compact comes with a smaller screen of 5 inches 18:9 Full HD+ HDR display; both the phone are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The devices are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset. On connectivity part, both the handsets will offer Wifi Miracast, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-c and GPS.
Camera
In the camera section the Xperia XZ2 sports a 19 megapixel camera with emotion eye, autofocus, predictive capture, super slo-mo videos and up to 4K HDR movie recording. Xperia XZ2 compact also has a similar camera setup. Both the Sony smartphones come with a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture.
Storage
The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact will offer 4GB Ram and a single storage option of 64 GB, which can be further expanded up to 400GN via microSD card.
Battery
The Xperia XZ2 Compact powers 2870mAh battery while the Xperia XZ2 gets a 3180mAh battery. Both the phones support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Sony’s Qnovo Adaptive charging technology, but only the Xperia XZ2 has an extra wireless charging support.
Price and availability
The company is yet to announce the price of the devices, but the new phones can come with a premium price tag. The phone is expected to launch globally in March 2018.
