After being announced in December 2015 at a global event in China, Gionee Marathon M5 Plus has been launched in India at Rs. 26,999, which is approximately 9k more than its predecessor Marathon M5. The Smartphone comes in Polar Gold and champagne gold colors and will soon be available across India. The company is touting it as a big battery phone but in reality it comes with less powerful battery than its predecessor.
The device looks and feels premium in hands and flaunts decent all metal design. The M5 plus sports a big 6 inch full HD super AMOLED 2.5D curved display bearing 1920 x 1080 pixels of resolution and pixel density of 368ppi. The display is protected by a layer of corning gorilla glass 3. Under the hood is a 64-bit Octa Core Mediatek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and assisted by Mali-T720GPU and brawny 3GB of RAM.
On the camera front, it has a 13 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front snapper. The device sports 64GB of internal memory which is further expandable up to 128GB using a Micro SD card slot. The Marathon M5 plus runs on Android lollipop 5.1 with Amigo UI 3.1 on top. The handset has fingerprint sensor at the back for enhanced security.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, GPS, USB type-C, bluetooth 4.0, 3G HSPA+, NFC etc. The Smartphone is fuelled by a 5020mah battery which is rated to deliver 53 hours of talktime and 829 hours of standby time. It measures 160.9 x 81.2 x 8.4mm and weighs 208 grams.
