The South Korean giant Samsung had a mix last quarter in Mobile division due to stiff competition by Apple, Xiaomi, LG and Micromax etc resulting in decline market share and profits for the first time in many years. In order to reverse the dipping revenues and to rival Apple Samsung has launched two new Smartphones ‘Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
Samsung this around just only focused on Specs but also on design with S6 Edge has the world’s first curved display on both sides. Both these Smartphones were unveiled in 2015 MWC (Mobile world congress) and Samsung also launched Samsung Pay to take on Apple pay.
Both the Smartphones has a 5.1 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with pixel density of 577ppi and protected with Corning Glass 4. Samsung Galaxy Edge has a dual edge display.
Samsung Galaxy S6 is 6.8mm thin with 138gms weight while Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is 7.0mm thin and weighs 132gms.
Both the devices are powered by Exynos 7 Octa core processor with 2.1 GHz and 1.5 GHz respectively with 3GB RAM and both also uses 14 namometer processer with 64-bit and LPDDR4 memory system.
On camera front it sports a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and OIS while there is a 5 MP front camera. Both these phones are loaded with many camera features such as quick launch, auto real time HDR, tracking AF, low light video, slow motion, fast motion, pro mode, f/1.9 and selective focus.
In terms of connectivity both handsets support LTE cat.6 up to 300 mbps download speed, Wi-Fi 820.11 a/b/g/n (2.4/5 GHz), HT80 MIMO, bluetooth 4.1, NFC and IR remote.
Other features include download booster, S health 4.0, ultra power saving mode, Smart manager, Microsoft apps (One drive for 2 years), S finder and S voice. Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 2550 mah battery and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has a 2600mah battery and both support wireless charging providing 4 hours of usage in 10 minutes of charging.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be available globally from 10th April 2015 in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants. Both the Smartphones will come in Gold platinum, black Sapphire, White pearl, Blue Topaz and Green Emerald color (S6 Edge only) variants. No information has been provided on pricing.
