Months of speculations and rumors has finally ended as HMD global has finally unveiled Nokia’s first Android device, christened as Nokia 6. Unfortunately, the Smartphone is exclusive to China and available at 1699 CNY (approx 16750 INR). It seems like Indian fans have to wait a bit more as HMD global has no plans to launch Nokia 6 in other markets.
Nokia 6 is built from a solid block of Aluminium 6000 which was also used in Apple iPhone 6. It flaunts a 5.5 inch in-cell full HD display with 2.5D gorilla glass, 450 nits brightness and corning gorilla glass 3 on top. Under the hood is a Qualcomm’s 64-bit Octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4GHz and equipped with 4GB RAM and Adreno 505 for graphics. There’s 64GB of in-built storage on board which is expandable to 128GB via Micro SD card.
On the optics front, it gets a 16MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash, 1um sensor, f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. Selfies can be taken via an 8MP front facing camera with 1.12um sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and 84 degree wide-angle lens. The Dual Sim device has a fingerprint sensor embedded at its home button.
Nokia 6 also features two speakers on the top and bottom along with Dolby ATMOS support. The Smartphone offers a 3000mah battery which claims to deliver up to 18 hours of talktime and up to 32 days of standby time. Nokia supports all LTE bands including LTE 40 and sports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, USB OTG and USB 2.0 (which is disappointing) as standard connectivity options. Nokia 6 is bundled with range of sensors such as gravity sensor, hall sensor, light sensor, electronic compass, proximity sensor and gyroscope.
Snapdragon 430 in the price of 16K is not going to cut the competitors; also USB 3.0 could have been an idle choice. For India, Nokia’s first device could the entry level D1 C which will be revealed at MWC 2017 next month alongside other six Smartphones.
